Sometimes it seems that information is hard to find and at the same time the amount of information can be overwhelming. There are a lot of websites and apps available to help you navigate visiting and living in The Villages, FL.

In this article, we will give you some of the most useful apps and websites we have found. Some we found on our Lifestyle Visit, and others we have found out of necessity since buying our home in The Villages, FL. Some are for entertainment and connecting, some are for home ownership and some are for saving money!

  1. DistrictGov.org - This website has so much information about living in the The Villages that after a year of owning a home, we have only scratched the surface of what it has to offer. You can look up the bond of any homesite you are looking to purchase. You can also find and sign up for activities through the Recreation & Parks department (you can also find the activities in the weekly circular you canpick up at any rec center). You can find an up to date list of ALL groups and clubs in The Villages. You will find information about your trash pick up, pool or golf course maintenance closures, as well as community standards for the different CDDs. There is a lot more on the website as well. We always go to this website first whenever we have a question or looking for the latest news.

  2. The Villages App - You can use their app to search for homes for sale and even get golf cart GPS directions. The app also has a calendar of events, live webcam view of all the town squares and you can even listen to The Villages radio station through the app.

  3. County Websites - We are going to combine all three county websites into one entry. Whichever county you live in, you will find a lot of information you need on your county’s website. You can find tax info, public safety info as well as voting information.

  4. NOAA - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is the most reliable source for weather information. The weather is a major part of living in The Villages, or any part of Florida. Local channels are a great resource, but they sometimes sensationalize the weather events. They are a great resource, but go to the NOAA to track weather and the different models.

5. The Villages Entertainment - Let’s face it, one of the main reasons people live in The Villages, FL is the live entertainment. There is not only live entertainment in the town squares every night, but there is also live music at Edna’s on the Green, Sawgrass Grove and paid shows at the performance centers. This website will keep you informed of all of the music acts as well as any special events and festivals happening all year long.

6. Facebook - You may be thinking, “I’m not really a fan of Facebook, do I really need it to live in The Villages?” Well, it was very surprising to us how much information is on Facebook and only on Facebook. Almost every village has its own Facebook Group so you can connect with neighbors and plan social events. Most of the clubs and groups have Facebook group pages where you connect with other members and know what events are going on. You will also find the Buy Nothing sites as well as restaurant review sites just for Villages restaurants. And on top of that, most of the restaurants and businesses in The Villages, Fl have Facebook pages. We highly recommend you follow any of your favorite restaurants so you know their daily specials and events. You can follow your favorite bands and entertainers. 7. Activity websites - Some of these are official websites of The Villages and some are run by the volunteer instructors. Websites and Apps for Convenience and Saving Money

We eat at home most nights because we love to cook and to try to eat healthy as much as possible. We do enjoy going out and experiencing new places in The Villages and the surrounding towns. Either way, it’s always nice to save money.

8. Walmart.com - You can order online and have Walmart items delivered right to your doorstep! Not just groceries, but regular items as well. We may or may not have ordered mason jars, a toilet scrubber and fresh produce all in one order! We also bought the Walmart+ subscription so we get free delivery plus other perks such as 10 cents off gas at Exxon and Mobil.

9. Kroger App - We LOVE Kroger grocery delivery. Kroger has a great variety of food, reliable refrigerated delivery and an easy return policy if you are not happy with any items. You probably see the Kroger truck in front of our house at least twice a week. We bought the Boost membership which includes unlimited free delivery plus no tipping is allowed.

10. McDonald’s - We know, we know, McDonald’s isn’t the healthiest option, but where else can you go through the drive-thru in a golf cart??! The app has exclusive rewards and deals that make this treat affordable.

11. Publix - If you live in Florida, you know that Pub Subs are THE thing! Download the Publix app and you can order your sub through the app and it will be ready by the time you get there in your golf cart. Grab some water or soda and take your subs to one of the lovely picnic spots in The Villages. We enjoy the covered pavilion at the Fenney Putt and Play or sitting on one of the beautiful porches of a rec center like Okahumpka Rec center.

12. FMK Loyalty App - FMK is one of the companies that owns multiple restaurants in The Villages, FL. They own Bonifay Country Club, Belle Glade Country Club, Evans Prairie Country Club, and Orange Blossom Hills Country Club. Check out our video below on our visit to Orange Blossom Hills which is in the original part of The Villages! They also own Scooples Restaurant (Brownwood), Coastal del Mar (Spanish Springs), Harvest (Brownwood), Blue Fin (Brownwood), Bella Vita (Spanish Springs), and The Chop House (Lake Sumter Landing). The app allows you to collect points whenever you eat and use the rewards for future meals.

13. Amazon - Whether it’s Tiffany’s latest kitchen gadget, home decor or a last minute costume accessory for a neighborhood party, we use Amazon every week.
